NEW RULES FOR ROLEPLAY Empty
PostSubject: NEW RULES FOR ROLEPLAY   NEW RULES FOR ROLEPLAY I_icon_minitimeSun Dec 12, 2010 7:14 am

YOU CAN'T ROLEPLAY UNTIL THIS IS READ AND SIGNED

Official Community Roleplaying Policies
The following OOC policies apply to every member that has agreed to be a part of the community and is a part of the current guild(s). Please read the policies and acknowledge that you understand them by replying with your signature.

General Roleplaying Policies
•IC vs. OOC - Please do not take IC actions personally. If a player produces a negative action IC directed towards your character, do not take offense to it. Roleplay should not reflect OOC behavior. In the same token, if you have bad feelings towards another player OOC, do not carry that over into how you roleplay or interact with that person. You are one person and your character is another. Your OOC feelings should never dictate how your
character acts IC.

•Star Wars Character Names - Character names must fit in the Star Wars universe.

•No Star Wars Copycats - Character names may not resemble existing Star Wars characters.

•Character Bios - When creating your character's bio, please make it believable. Please do not design your character to have super skills or be a high-ranking character from the start. There are times when the guild will be in need of a high-ranking character - only then will the rule be broken to accommodate.

•Famous Relatives - Characters may not be immediate relatives of known Star Wars characters. Distant cousins, half-siblings, and great grandchildren are acceptable as long as it doesn't conflict with Star Wars canon.

•Roleplay Tag - When roleplaying, please activate the ROLEPLAY tag above your character's head type /role)

•OOC Tag - When OOC, please activate the OOC tag above your character's head (type /ooc)

•OOC/Helper Tags - When participating in an OOC group activity, please activate both the the OOC and HELPER tags above your character's head (type /ooc and /newbie)

•Swapping Tags - Take caution when using different tags for different situations of IC/OOC. Make sure that you do not have the opposite tag up when performing one or the other.

•Switching Status (ROLEPLAY/OOC) - When you switch status from ROLEPLAY to OOC (and vice-versa), please do not do it in the presence of others. Even if you have to walk out of sight for a moment, such as into or around a building, please make the transition in status privately.

•AFK Tag - If you must go Away From Keyboard, please notify somebody first and then activate the AFK tag above your character's head (type /afk). An AFK status removes a player/character from the action including any engagement in combat.

•Walk Don't Run - When roleplaying, always walk unless the situation calls for running.

•Wearables - When IC, please make sure that your character has the appropriate clothing or armor equipped that has been agreed upon. No partial or mixed armor. If need be, equip your PvE clothing/armor underneath appearance RP clothing/armor.

•Radar - Use of the radar is considered taboo for locating other characters or targets while IC. Because players have to trust that their peers are playing fair, there cannot be a rule against use of the radar, but simply using the honor system for yourself.

•FindFriend (/findfriend) - Use of this ability to locate other people IC is not permitted. Keep in mind that both players must have each other on their Friend's List in order for this function to be used.

Armor Roleplaying Policies
•Keep this general rule of thumb in mind - Appearance armor = IC armor; Equipped armor = OOC armor.

•If your character will be equipping armor while IC, your character must have a backpack equipped to give the appearance that they are carrying the armor with them. Otherwise, characters should have their armor equipped prior to going IC.

•Characters in a military role may not mix and match their assigned appearance armor unless it is approved. Mercenaries and Neutral faction archetypes may mix different armor types as long as it doesn't look bad. You may, however, mix and match any armor that is worn underneath your appearance armor.

•Faction armor that has been approved for your character may not have its color changed unless it is approved.

•Characters in a military role may only remove their armor under certain circumstances:
•During downtime or inactivity.

•When medical treatment or an examination is required.

•During events where formal attire is required.

•During military briefings or planning.

Weapon Roleplaying Policies
•It's very unlikely that most characters in the Star Wars universe carry small arsenals on their person. While IC, you may carry one large melee (axes, swords, polearms) or ranged weapon (carbines, rifles, heavy), one pistol, and one small melee weapon (knife or knuckler).

•Unless you are a member of military personnel, when your character is not engaged in combat, please un-equip your weapon.

•Each faction has it's own weapon restrictions which only allow certain canon weapons to be used for roleplay.

•When driving a vehicle or riding in a vehicle as a passenger, please un-equip weapons prior to boarding the vehicle. When your character exits the vehicle, you may re-equip the weapon.

•Even though your character role may be certified for certain free-targeting weapons, such as heavy weapons, please do not spam attacks for no reason. While IC, think of the blast radius or splash damage that would occur if you were really there in that situation. Watch out for fellow combatants when discharging these types of weapons in battle.

•While IC, unless you are being attacked by an enemy NPC, do not go out of your way to attack them. The only exception is if the enemy NPCs are being used as part of the scenario or event.

•Before discharging or using a weapon, please be aware of your surroundings. Even though game mechanics or bugs allow certain actions, please make sure that the combat you are involved in stays IC at all times.

•Military personnel may only remove their weapons under certain circumstances:
•During downtime or inactivity.

•When medical treatment or an examination is required.

•During events for those that haven't been assigned to security detail or guard duty.

•During military briefings or planning.

Vehicle Roleplaying Policies
•When "calling" a vehicle, please do it in an inconspicuous place, such as on the other side of a building or someplace that's out of sight. Never make your vehicle seem to have appeared out of thin air. Trees or large rocks will also suffice if there are no buildings around.

•When your character disembarks their own personal single-passenger vehicle or a multi-passenger vehicle where they are riding solo, never "store" your vehicle. Simply disembark at your destination and leave your vehicle out. If the vehicle suddenly disappears when you disembark, it breaks immersion.

•If your character is the driver of a multi-passenger vehicle that is carrying at least one additional passenger and you arrive at your destination, do not "store" the vehicle or disembark until all of your passengers have first disembarked. If your character disembarks first, all other passengers will be ejected from the vehicle at the same time, which can sometimes break immersion.

•If a character is in a city where a garage is located, they may visit the garage to either "store" or "call" their vehicles when IC.

ITV Roleplaying Policies
•Only factional ITVs may be used. If unavailable to the player, they may use the Rattletrap ITV instead.

•Do not use ITVs during roleplay unless it has been approved for the scenario.

•When using ITVs, please make sure that the ITV has adequate room to "land". Do not summon the ITV in a tight place even though it may fit. Try to summon the ITV in a wide open location that is not surrounded by buildings or many obstacles.

•If multiple players are summoning ITVs, please make sure that you distance yourself so that the ITVs don't overlap or clip each other.

Creature Mount Roleplaying Policies
•When "calling" a creature mount, please do it in an inconspicuous place, such as on the other side of a building or someplace that's out of sight. Never make your creature mount seem to have appeared out of thin air. Trees or large rocks will also suffice if there are no buildings around.

Creature Pet Roleplaying Policies
•Creature pets will be permitted during roleplaying activities only if the character's role has been approved for pet ownership.

•Creature pets must have a roleplaying purpose and not simply as a crutch for your character to lean on during battles.

•It is not required for you to name your creature pet with a specific name, but if you do, please keep it within the naming guidelines of Star Wars and the community.

•Creature pets that participate in roleplaying battles should be treated like other characters when it comes to getting hurt and getting wounds. Also, keep in mind that creature pets may be more susceptible to getting killed than characters, so don't make your pet invincible.

•Keep in mind that creature pets aren't allowed everywhere that your character is. Just because you bring your pet with you, doesn't mean Fido will get to accompany you for the entire journey.

•When "calling" a creature pet, please do it in an inconspicuous place, such as on the other side of a building or someplace that's out of sight. Never make your creature pet seem to have appeared out of thin air. Trees or large rocks will also suffice if there are no buildings around.

•When issuing commands to your pet, please do it discreetly by using the /tellpet command followed by the function command.

•If a character is in a city where a barn is located, they may visit the barn to either "store" or "call" their creature pets when IC.

Droid Pet Roleplaying Policies
•Droids will be permitted during roleplaying activities only if the character's role has been approved for droid ownership.

•Combat droids must have a roleplaying purpose and not simply as a crutch for your character to lean on during battles.

•It is not required for you to name your droid with a specific name, but if you do, please keep it within the naming guidelines of Star Wars and the community.

•Combat droids that participate in roleplaying battles are highly susceptible to being damaged or even destroyed IC. Even if destroyed, a combat droid can be rebuilt over and over again, but only by a skilled technician. Depending on how severe the damage is that your droid takes, will also determine how much time it takes for it to be repaired and out of action.

•Keep in mind that droids aren't allowed everywhere that your character is. Just because you bring your droid with you, doesn't mean Artoo will get to accompany you for the entire journey.

•When "calling" a droid, please do it in an inconspicuous place, such as on the other side of a building or someplace that's out of sight. Never make your droid seem to have appeared out of thin air. Trees or large rocks will also suffice if there are no buildings around.

•When issuing commands to your droid, please do it discreetly by using the /tellpet command followed by the function command.
